As a girl of sixteen summers her father, a former Knight of Dalmasca, perished in combat for the Empire and left her an orphan but a citizen on account of his brave service. After her initial grief and shock Astreda knew exactly what she wanted to do with her newfound status and revenge upon the rebels who had slain him was at the forefront of her mind. With a single-minded focus, she studied with the goal of entering the military academy, where she later graduated Officer training and, unexpectedly, joined the IVth Legion. Not long after her initial assignment Astreda was transferred to the XXth by the request of Tribunus Scipio tol Akechi. There she has risen through the ranks to become Primus Pilus. With thanks to further effective training from Scipio and later the Legatus, Vitus van Lucon, Astreda has become an impressive marksman and is an intelligent combatant besides. Swift and subtle, she now makes for a deadly foe who wastes no sleep over those she has dispatched in her short but glorious career.

The Empire has fallen but still, Astreda remains loyal to Garlemald. She now coordinates the XXth close protections assignments as it supports the Senate of the recently reestablished Republic. Recently word from Dalmasca reached her that her name had been raised with the Rumta-Zaraam, the organisation created by the Dalmascans to track down escaped war criminals. With Dalmasca hunting her and Garlemald in ruins, Astreda is left without a home, restless, neither Dalmascan nor Garlean.
